KLIA2 RECEIVED ITS 88 MILLIONTH PASSENGER TODAY

SEPANG – Since its opening on 2 May 2014, klia2 has handled a total of 88 million passenger movements at the terminal comprising 30 million domestic and 58 million international passenger movements.
klia2 with its capacity to handle a total of 45 million passengers per annum (mppa) has been supporting the traffic growth of low cost carriers steadily over the last three years. After its first year of operation in April 2015, klia2 recorded a total of 24 million passenger traffic movements. This growth escalated higher in 2016, which registered a 15% increase to its total number of passenger movements at 27.6 million from the previous year.
The first quarter of 2017 had also shown strong passenger traffic numbers, with a total of 7.1 million passengers handled in the first quarter of 2017, with international and domestic passenger movements at approximately 4.8 million and 2.3 million respectively.
In commemorating the third year of klia2 operations today, a simple ceremony was held at the terminal. Arif Jaafar, the Acting General Manager of MA Sepang Sdn. Bhd. distributed the limited edition klia2 medallion to three selected passengers. Aina Anina bt Ahmad Azraai an AirAsia passenger from Malaysia was selected as the 30 millionth domestic passenger, Felix Janemalm an AirAsia X passenger from Sweden as the 58 millionth international passenger and Natalie Parish from Australia was selected as the overall 88 millionth passenger travelling through klia2 terminal via Jetstar.
klia2 had also undergone a few improvement initiatives over the last three years including the installation of additional 25 walkalators, bringing the total number to 42 units, as well as 24 hour buggy service for greater convenience of the passengers.
