Originally a small Fokker airfield, the Sultan Azlan Shah Airport was expanded in the 1980s to accommodate jet aircraft operations. It now serves Malaysia Airlines and Firefly.

We are pleased to inform that runway recovery works  at Sibu Airport is now complete and the airport had resumed normal operations at 0000 hours, 10 April 2017, with the first flight commencing operations 0928 hours this morning.
