SEPANG Himalaya Airlines, a Nepal-China Joint Venture, celebrated its inaugural flight from Kathmandu to Kuala Lumpur which landed at Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 3:30 pm with 100% flight load, marking the airline’s 3rd destination after Doha and Colombo.

The successful inaugural flight was followed by a special welcome ceremony organised by Malaysia Airports which was attended by Ambassador of Nepal to Malaysia, H.E. Dr. Niranjan Man Singh Basnyat, Charge d’affaires a.i. for Embassy of Malaysia for Nepal, Ahmad Phadil Mohamed Ismail, Minister of Culture, Tourism & Civil Aviation for Nepal, Jiwan Bahadur Shahi, Managing Director of Malaysia Airports, Datuk Badlisham Ghazali and President of Himalaya Airlines, Zhao Guo Qiang. The Nepalese delegation was well received with a traditional welcome with a Malaysian cultural dance performance.

During the conference, Mr. Zhao Guo Qiang, President of Himalaya Airlines said, “We are really thrilled to launch direct flights to Kuala Lumpur as this is one of our core markets in the Asia Pacific region and we have around 700,000 Nepalese working here. For the upcoming weeks, we have received an overwhelming response for the flight bookings which has given us confidence that we are here to stay. This is definitely is going to contribute the cordial relationship as well business development between two Nepal and Malaysia.”

In his welcome speech, Datuk Badlisham Ghazali, Managing Director of Malaysia Airports said, “Himalaya Airlines, a full service carrier, has showed growth in its route networks since it started operations in May 2016. This latest destination to Kuala Lumpur emphasises the ongoing commitment to connect Nepal directly to Asia Pacific countries. This inaugural will definitely make KLIA into a more effective hub for connecting business travellers and tourists from Nepal to destinations in South East Asia.”

“There is a strong demand for direct flights to Kuala Lumpur, and indeed Malaysia is steadily becoming an increasingly important and huge market in the South East Asian region. The new direct flight will also usher in a boost in trade and tourism, and help us continue forming stronger ties between both countries,” he added.

The launching airfare for Kuala Lumpur- Kathmandu- Kuala Lumpur flight starts from MYR 928.00 (round trip). Governmental taxes will be extra.

The airline has appointed Carnival Travel Sdn Bhd  as its General Sales Agents (GSA) for Malaysia and they will responsible for the airline’s sales and marketing, market development, reservations and ticketing services representing the airline.
