SPIRIT OF HARI RAYA AIDILFITRI IN THE CITY AT KL INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
15 July 2014
Sepang, 15 July 2014 – In conjunction with the holy month of Ramadhan, Commercial Services Division of Malaysia Airports together with its retail and F&B partners at KL International Airport and SINAR FM have teamed up for a ‘Ramadhan Mulia’ CSR initiative to bring joy to 35 children from Rumah Kasih Nurul Hasanah.
Aged between four and 15, the children were treated to a session of games, performances, and a ‘buka puasa’ meal together with Sinar FM announcers and Commercial Services Marketing Communications staff. The ‘buka puasa’ meal was sponsored by Nooodles while supper was sponsored by McDonalds.
Each of the children were also presented with complimentary shopping vouchers worth RM150 and “duit raya” worth RM100 where they promptly spent a KLIA’s Satellite Building on Raya clothes, books, toys and chocolates.
This year, Malaysia Airports has adopted the overall theme of ‘Syawal in the City’ for its Hari Raya celebrations. According to the airport operator, this is in recognition of the many segments of people living in the city. Its CSR initiative is one of the ways it reaches out to urbanites in need and to share the true spirit of Ramadhan.
KLIA’s “Syawal in the City” (“Malam Syawal di Kota”) will be held from 15 July until 10 August 2014. Throughout this period, travelers can take the opportunity to explore the many shopping and dining options available at KLIA. They will also be rewarded for their spending (a minimum of RM20 in a single receipt) with free gifts which include cookies with festive Hari Raya designs and ‘Duit raya’ packets.
Other activities include interactive games, traditional dances, “silat” and “dikir barat” performances; as well as musical performances featuring the use of traditional musical instruments.
“Syawal in the City” part of Malaysia Airports’ drive to raise awareness on the dual roles of international airports – as transportation hubs and as lifestyle destinations, with loads of shopping and dining treats for visitors and travellers alike.
