AIRPORT SHOPPER WINS LAMBORGHINI HURACAN SPYDER IN MALAYSIA AIRPORTS’ 25th ANNIVERSARY SHOPPING CAMPAIGN

Kuala Lumpur – To conclude its 25th Anniversary Shopping Campaign launched in May last year, Malaysia Airports today announced winners of their “Spend & Win” contest which included the grand prize of a Lamborghini Huracan Spyder.
The shopping campaign which had spectacular prizes worth over RM2.5 million up for grabs, was aimed at rewarding travellers for supporting the retail offerings at the 5 international airports operated by Malaysia Airports – KL International Airport, Penang International Airport, Kota Kinabalu International Airport, Langkawi International Airport and Kuching International Airport.
Travellers with a minimum purchase of RM250 at these international airports stood a chance to win various prizes including the grand prize of a Lamborghini Huracan Spyder, four first prizes of all-expenses paid trips to London and Paris as well as monthly prizes comprising air tickets to 25 of the world’s most exciting destinations.
According to Malaysia Airports managing director Datuk BadlishamGhazali, “Airport shopping has become an integral part of air travel. KLIA is one of the world’s busiest airports and we aim to live up to our mission of creating joyful experiences. One of the ways is to continuously carry out campaigns to reward travelers. With the significant traffic growth in2017 of 8.5%% to 96 million at all our airports in Malaysia, recorded sales at our airports improved by 24% compared to 2016.”
Throughout the campaign period, the Lamborghini Huracan Spyder was on display at KLIA, as part of creating awareness and excitement among visitors. In fact, some were even spotted on social media taking pictures with the car. The 25th Anniversary Shopping Campaign had received overwhelming response with RM4.5 million average sales per week for a total contest sales worth RM135 million.
The main sponsors included Mastercard, the official card for the shopping campaign, Malaysia Airlines, Malindo Air and AirAsia.
Perry Ong, Country Manager, Malaysia and Brunei, Mastercard said, “Shopping continues to be synonymous with travel and as the official card of 25th Anniversary Shopping Campaign, we added excitement by doubling the chances of winning for Mastercard cardholders. We are committed to continue our long-standing partnership with Malaysia Airports to promote greater use of simple, safe and smart ways of payment methods, ensuring great customer experience always, as well as the development of Malaysia’s wider travel and retail industry.”
Badlisham mentioned that plans are in place to improve the retail experience at KLIA.
“We have several other initiatives in place to create an immersive experience in KLIA this year especially with the aid of technology, and also by revamping the retail look and feel at KLIA. We also have plans in place to improve the Malaysian experience in our other international airports. You will hear more of these plans when we are ready to announce them. We trust that our efforts not only will improve passenger experience but also help our tenants grow their businesses and continue to contribute to the local economy,” he added further.
During the prize giving ceremony, Badlisham congratulated and presented the prizes to the top five winners:
