MALAYSIA AIRPORTS COLLABORATES WITH TOURISM PERAK IN SUPPORTING NATIONAL AGENDA TO POSITION MALAYSIA AS A LEADING TOURIST DESTINATION

SEPANG – Malaysia Airports is collaborating with several state tourism agencies to feature the diverse cultural heritage of Malaysia at its airport under its Joyful Malaysia initiative, to support the national agenda in positioning Malaysia as a leading tourist destination. Its latest collaboration is with Tourism Perak who will be showcasing daily cultural performances at both terminals during the entire month of March 2017 in conjunction with Visit Perak 2017.
The Tourism Perak dance troupes and folk singers are currently available at specific times (12.30 pm – 1 pm; 2.00 pm – 2.30 pm; 5.00 pm – 5.30 pm in klia2 and 8 pm – 9 pm in KLIA Main). In addition, there will be a pottery-making demonstration featuring Perak’s iconic Labu Sayong.
A special welcome reception was also held for international arriving passengers at the klia2 international arrival hall at 3 pm today. The welcome reception which was attended by the Perak State Committee Chairman for Tourism, Arts, Culture, Communications and Multimedia, YB Dato’ Nolee Ashilin Binti Dato’ Mohammed Radzi, together with Managing Director of Malaysia Airports, Datuk Badlisham Ghazali and wife, Datin Rogayah Ibrahim. The welcome reception saw passengers being greeted with special dance performances and given special souvenirs as welcome gifts. The welcome reception is meant to promote Malaysian culture and heritage that reflects the unity and diversity amongst Malaysians.
Badlisham had said that as custodian of several major gateways into the country, Malaysia Airports wishes to enhance its efforts in bringing the joyful Malaysian experience closer to our international guests as well as helping to achieve the country’s target of 36 million tourist arrivals by 2020.
Badlisham also mentioned that Joyful Malaysia is part of Malaysia Airports Total Airport Experience initiative. TAE is one of four strategic priorities formulated under Malaysia Airports five-year business plan, Runway to Success 2020 (RtS2020).
He added, “Our initiative with Tourism Perak is the second of such collaboration and had started from 3 March until 31 March. I would like to take this opportunity to thank not only Tourism Perak, but also the Perak state government for deploying their resources in support of this Joyful Malaysia initiative.”
