About Sandakan Airport
Sandakan Airport is located 13km from Sandakan town. New terminal building and its related facilities just been upgraded in November 2014. It serves Malaysia Airlines, MasWings and Air Asia and has the capacity to handle 1.5 million passengers annually.
The airport is also a major tourism gateway to numerous eco destinations within Sabah. Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre is amongst the tourist's main attraction in Sabah. Other great attractions nearby Sandakan Airport are Gomantong Caves, Kinabatangan River, Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Santuary, Turtle island and the very long canopy walk at the Rainforest Directory Centre.
