Sepang, 25 March 2011 - Malaysia Airports will be joining other organisations all around the world in supporting Earth Hour tomorrow by powering off 30% of

Mohammad Suhaimi Abdul Mubin, General Manager of Malaysia Airports (Sepang) Sdn. Bhd. which oversees the operations of KLIA said, "Apart from supporting the Earth Day, this is part of our continuous commitment to preserving the environment and conserving energy usage at the airport."
He added, "Energy saving at KLIA is demonstrated via our initiative on Energy Saving Projects (ESP) by installing Energy Saving Device (ESD), which has significantly reduced electricity consumption at our airports. By supporting Earth Hour, KLIA will be conserving 194 kilowatt while LCCT-KLIA will see a saving of 43.5 kilowatt for that one hour period. Our participation will not have any effect on the airport operations and business will run as usual."
He elaborated, "ESP is an example of Malaysia Airports' commitment in creating awareness among its employees and airport users so that they minimize energy use and optimise use of infrastructure facilities. Through ESP, we target to save up to 20% of energy consumption and this initiative is being initially deployed at KLIA, to be followed by other airports in stages."
