About Sultan Mahmud Airport
Sultan Mahmud Airport serves the city of Kuala Terengganu and the state of Terengganu. It is located 15km from Kuala Terengganu town and handles more than 500,000 passengers annually.
It has a single runway (3,480m) and serves Malaysia Airlines, Firefly, and Air Asia. It also handles flights to Jeddah and Mecca, during the annual Hajj pilgrimage.
In 2008, plans were made to upgrade the Sultan Mahmud Airport. The upgrades included improvements to the terminal and runway extensions.
